Jiji | Founder of Maison Jiji
"Money keeps the lights on, but vision gives your business soul."
At the vibrant crossroads of culture, creativity, and confidence stands Maison Jiji — a bold home décor brand specializing in peel-and-stick wallpaper and statement design pieces.
Founder Jiji built the company for unapologetic women who know exactly what they want: homes that reflect their power, personality, and presence. Maison Jiji is more than décor — it’s permission to be bold, to stand out, and to own your space.
What Her Industry Is Missing
While many in the home décor world lean on “safe” design choices, Jiji sees the future differently.
“The industry isn’t talking enough about going oversized with pattern design,” she explains. “Customers don’t just want neutral or trendy. They want confidence. They want designs that reflect them — bold, feminine, unapologetic. They’re not afraid to stand out; they’re just looking for permission. And Maison Jiji gives that.”
This approach flips the script on traditional décor trends, pushing beyond conformity into true self-expression.
Cash Flow vs. Vision
Jiji has learned along her journey that cash flow, while essential, is not the only key to business survival.
“Cash flow isn’t always the real problem. Vision is. I started Maison Jiji with $300 in samples, my home as the showroom, and a clear vision. No fancy budget — just bold ideas and good lighting. You don’t need thousands to start. You need vision.”
It’s this clarity of purpose that has fueled her growth, even more than money itself. This speaks volumes about the importance of visionary leadership. It’s not enough to simply generate revenue — founders must also live in the future, carving out space for all that is yet to come.
We love it, Jiji.
Lessons Learned the Hard Way
Like many founders, Jiji has learned financial lessons through trial and error.
“Early on, I assumed if I paid the right creator, the sales would roll in. But I’ve learned: exposure doesn’t always equal results. Now, I focus on alignment over audience size — collaborating with people who genuinely connect with the brand. Vibes matter more than vanity metrics.”
It’s a powerful reminder that the right partnerships can’t be bought. Building genuine connections, giving people space to prove themselves without overcommitting, and staying anchored to your core values are not just protective moves — they’re strategic ones.
Building a Legacy
When asked if she’s building Maison Jiji as a legacy business or for eventual sale, Jiji is clear:
“I want Maison Jiji to generate cash flow and open doors for my family. But more than that, I want it to be living proof that vision, culture, and design create lasting impact. I’m not just building a brand — I’m building to inspire.”
Her goal stretches far beyond profit. It’s about creating something enduring, meaningful, and generational.
Words of Wisdom
Jiji leaves fellow entrepreneurs with advice straight from her journey:
“Don’t tell your dreams to small minds. Believe in yourself and start with just 2–3 samples. Use what you have — people support people. Your family and friends might not be your first customers, and that’s okay. Millions of strangers will support your passion if you keep going.”
